First of all, the service we received was excellent. As soon as we arrived and checked in, there was a young man available to help take our bags to our room. The quaintness of this inn was what we have come to expect when we travel and look for out of the way places. We had to walk up a few flights of stairs and wind around halls and go through doors to get to our room which looked out over the rail yard but we never heard a train. We did make reservations for dinner and nothing disappointed about our meals. The breakfast the next morning was also a delight! Not only the breads and fruit spread out but also included was ordering from the menu. Something to note as we moved from one place to another was the quality of service that we experienced in almost every restaurant. These servers work together and always worked with a smile and a level of politeness that exceeded our expectations. There never seemed to be a shortage of help and we never waited more than a few minutes for any request to be met.

The room was small but arranged in such a way that gave me the feeling of being in a bigger room. Because I was alone the fact the double bed was against the wall was not an issue to me, saying that, if there were 2 people I might think the adult sleeping against the wall might been quite squized. Breakfast was good, the continental buffet was nice and the scottish breakfast even better. The idea of proposing to the guest a wee scottish breakfast is good, instead of having a big breakfast and not finishing all of it, the wee scottish breakfast is a wonderful solution to not trow away food. All the atmosphere in the hotel from the check in till the check out is cozy and warm. Just the way we were used to have in Scottish hotels in the past.

I don't think I have ever stayed somewhere with such lovely staff. There is such a good feeling in this hotel - the staff are so friendly. Our bags were whisked off when we arrived and carried upstairs. It is obviously a popular hotel. We were here in winter but the restaurants were packed each night! There is masses of lovely Scottish art all over the walls, and a tartan style carpet. We had an absolutely wonderful holiday. Do have a ride on the nearby steam train - so fun! Also have a walk at the gorgeous nearby loch morlich, with its sandy beach. Lastly for a hike I recommend the circular walk to the green loch, loch uaine. I think this area is famous for birds too. Enjoy!

The rooms were very nice. One had recently been renovated, the other was a little dated, but still very nice and comfortable. The food was very nice indeed, and we decided to eat dinner at the hotel each night. The staff really made all the difference, so helpful and went above and beyond with the children. All staff were good, but we especially mention Meg, Nicole, Abbie and Ollie. They did have a few issues in the kitchen one evening, which meant the food was delayed, but it was very nice when it did arrive. The location of the hotel is great, right next to the steam railway station and a lovely secret garden.

This is a lovely hotel up in the Scottish Highlands. It sits right next to the railway station where the Strathspey Railway comes in should you be there on the days it does. All the staff are very friendly and polite and can't do enough for you. Our room was beautiful, large area and large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was included and is served as a buffet style initially and then you order a cooked breakfast if you want one. There is also a restaurant in the hotel which is reasonably priced. The location was about 4 miles from Aviemore and we used it as a base to go on day trips.
